Happy Birthday to ME! My first birthday spent away from home, it had to come eventually. It was kind of sad that it fell on Father's Day though. I wish my dad and I could have been together for the occasion.  Because of good timing I got to have a whole week of NYC fun leading up to my birthday. Some of my Utah pals came out here on a little trip, and I would never miss out on an opportunity to see people from home. I was able to spend almost the entire week with them.  We went on a bunch of walking tours of the city and got to learn about the history of that area. That was really cool because a lot of the stories were things I didn't know. We also ate a ton of cheesecake, no complaints there. I got to see two Broadway shows!  Here's a fun little story. The whole group was seeing Mean Girls on Broadway, and I have seen it twice so I opted not to spend the money. I was meeting them after the show to go grab dessert. I get there about 10 minutes bef...

So Beyond Grateful

I know that it is a little late now, but I am finally sitting down and writing about Thanksgiving! They live in this stunning part of the country, right near Washington's Crossing! It was so nice to be away from the loud city for a few days. I had never been to Pennsylvania so I was super excited about taking the train from Penn Station and crossing state lines. Kind of a dorky thing to be excited about, but I was. I got there on Thanksgiving Day just in time for some pre-meal snacks. Josh, Amanda, their two kids (Zach and Emma), and their Great Dane Paisley were so welcoming and...

I have this class called performance conditioning, in that class we spend some time talking about nutrition. Nothing about intense dieting, but just about knowing what is going into your body. This is important because for actors, the body is the instrument. But it is hard because as college students we eat nothing that we have to spend more than five dollars on. Mostly, because we don't have more than five dollars. My performance conditioning teacher gave us a nice tip for groceries in the city. Go to a farmers market he said, you can get good, fresh food there for really cheap. But don't go in the morning when they first set up, go in the late afternoon when they are getting ready to leave. The reason you go at the end of the day is because they are more likely to give you things for cheaper because they would rather sell it for a dollar than pack it up because it is not as fresh the next day. I tried this and I got tons of fresh produce for really cheap. This tip real...
